MarryMeMuslim is a site that's been developed by Muslims, for Muslims. Although there are a number of matrimonial sites out there for Muslims, I'd like to think that there isn't a site out there like this one. I've used a few of the sites myself, and I came to the realization that you really don't know who you're talking to on the end other end. What their values are, what's important to them, their personality. A lot of these things don't come to light until later. So I thought about how useful it would be to know some details about the person. Not only does it make it easier to start a conversation, because you can start with something you have in common, but you don't have to waste precious time asking little things that they've already answered (in their profile).
The match questions have been written to help members see what's important to each other. Having children, living with in-laws, career, family, etc. The more you know the easier it will be to talk to the person or not talk to the person. Our divorced brothers and sisters face yet another challenge. I went through a divorce myself, so I have some idea, and I do understand that it's very different for divorced sisters in Islam, especially those that have children.
I don't claim that this site provides you with everything you need to know about a person, far from it. But at least it's a start. I look to members of this site to help make it better, so it helps fellow Muslims find the right partner for them. Marriage is a blessing, and those of us that have found their better half should give thanks to Allah.
